COLOR MIXING: the other art
One of the greatest challenges to the painting student is understanding color and how to mix paints together to achieve the desired results. The series of essays listed in the sub-menu (above) provides practical approaches to color mixing as it applies to common artists’ pigments. In addition to providing methods and strategies that can help the student achieve more consistent and successful results when mixing color, the series includes an overview of basic color theory, suggests several color-mixing exercises, reviews the character of frequently used artists' pigments, provides recipes for simulating the colors of a wide range of materials and objects, and presents a listing of the palettes of master artists past and present.
