Create a graphic timeline that is similar to the example segment shown below according to the instructions.
To make the timeline, cut a sheet of 20" X 28" (or larger) posterboard in half lengthwise to approximately 10" X 28". Use one half for the timeline; and set aside the remainder for use on future projects.
Run the “year-line” lengthwise near the top edge. Then mark off and legibly label the years at inch marks according to this scale (when you are done, the total length of the year-line should be 27"):
Beneath the year-line, use color markers to indicate the duration of each art historical period as listed below. Label each period and give its dates.
Use the same color for each period and its sub-divisions. For example, if the Renaissance is blue, blue lines should also be used for the Mannerist and for the Baroque schools, which were part of the Renaissance. (See illustration below.)
Your completed timeline should resemble this example segment.
medieval: c. 500 A.D.-c. 1500
renaissance: 1400 A.D. - 1800
